Dining in Surfside this Spring

Surfside is a great place to spend Spring Break. It's a little bit more subdued than South Beach. Surfside is the place to be for those who want to catch up with friends and create new memories for the future. There's a mile of some of the nicest beach in the region. There's plenty of shopping, with stores stocking something for every size and personality. And Surfside is known for its many great restaurants. There are options for everyone...or are there?

It's true that until recently, kosher dining in the Surfside area was hit-or-miss, to say the least. But thanks to some enterprising entrepreneurs, that's all starting to change. Surfside is starting to have plenty of kosher dining options. One of the best kosher restaurants in Surfside is Rustiko. This is the place to be if you're looking for a kosher Italian restaurant in Surfside. The menu includes authentic artisanal pizza and pasta dishes. They reflect the best of regional Italian cuisine.

Rustiko is open all day, and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. This restaurant also offers catering. Customers can place orders online for pick-up or delivery. In addition to the wood-fired pizza, other must-try items on the menu include the espresso-based coffee drinks and the desserts.

Other kosher options in Surfside include Fresko. Also a kosher dairy restaurant, Fresko features fresh contemporary offerings. Smoothies are available for breakfast. Sushi, pasta and sandwiches are available for lunch. Options include wraps and pressata. The dinner menu is similar, although it has an expanded selection of appetizers, and larger portions.

As the kosher dining scene in Surfside evolves, it will be interesting to see what restaurants open next. There are starting to be great options for every meal of the day, and even catering, in the area. This city is a unique part of the greater Miami area, especially when it comes to food.

Making Seafood an Integral Part of Your Beach Vacation

You are traveling to Miami, where sunshine and sand abound. You're going to walk the beach and let the waves lap your toes. You'll watch the sun set over the water and relax on the sandy shores. Because the ocean will be such an integral part of your travels, you absolutely must enjoy some of Miami's fresh seafood while you're in town.

Fish for Breakfast
You don't have to wait until the later hours of the day start enjoying a seafood meal. At Rustiko, a kosher dairy restaurant in Surfside, even the breakfast dishes can include fish. Tuna Tartine, for example, layers tuna salad and arugula over toasted bread. This unique breakfast meal is one that will leave you satisfied long all morning long.

Italian Seafood
Perhaps when you think of Italian food, your mind immediately wanders to a big pile of spaghetti or a breast of chicken Parmesan. However, until you've tried Italian-style fish, such as the Sea Bass Piccata from Rustiko, you haven't really experienced all that Italian cooking has to offer. This fish preparation mixes sea bass and vegetables in a delicious lemon caper sauce.

Fresh Sushi
To truly experience Miami seafood, consider sampling a fresh sushi preparation. Sure, sushi is trendy, but that's not the top reason to eat it. It's also a good choice because it's absolutely delicious. At Kosh in Surfside, you can choose between raw and cooked sushi. For example, for raw fans, there's the Samba Roll with salmon, avocado and eel sauce. Those who would prefer their sushi cooked can try the Ebi Roll; it features shrimp tempura and avocado and is crowned with salmon.

Seafood Pizza
When visiting a pizza restaurant in Surfside, you might assume that seafood won't be part of the meal. It turns out, though, that you can have both pizza and seafood together when you dine at Rustiko. In fact, it's the restaurant's namesake dish--Pizza Rustiko--that blends these two cuisines. This wood-fired pizza features chunks of tuna plus mushrooms, avocado and pico de gallo.
